Vacation in a Home in Florida - What to Do?

By Nathalie Fiset Platinum Quality Author

Vacation home rental is becoming a trend these days. More and more people prefer to rent a vacation home than stay in a hotel. Vacation home is accessible in most tourist places like California and Florida.

Vacation home is a fully-furnished house or townhouse which is leased to certain individuals who stays for a definite number of days. Vacation homes can either be with swimming pools or jacuzzi. It can also be with special amenities depending on what is agreed upon. There are some vacation homes which allow pets to be brought with the family.

Here are some things that you need to know in looking for a vacation home.

Check on the listings from agents or from the internet. When searching for a vacation home, be as specific as you can be. Use appropriate keywords when typing. If you prefer a 3-bedroom house within Orlando Florida and you would like to bring your pet, then put it in as keywords. Do not limit yourself with the top list.

Look for a house which is near the places that you would want to visit. Limit your travel time from 10 to 15 minutes only. A travel time of more than 30 minutes will consume a lot of your time. Traffic is likely to occur when you travel long. There might be areas where you have not considered having traffic which cause longer time to reach your destinations.

Search for units which offer short time rentals. Inquire for the minimum amount of days for the lease. It is cheaper when you reach the minimum days required. The succeeding days may also charge less compared with the original rate.

Consider the amenities that go with the home. The usual package includes the kitchen utensils like pots and pans with stoves, beds and linens, and towels. Some companies offer a grocery package which you will have to pay additional charge. Some homes offer strollers, cribs and wheelchairs for additional charge also.

Try to find a vacation home with a wide background. More activities can be held when the backyard is bigger.

Lastly, get a vacation home which has no second floor if you have elderly or disabled individuals with you. It can hinder their movements and it might even cause accidents.

Once you are able to come up with a checklist on what specifications you like for your future home, you can now start searching for ‘the house’.

Vacation home are listed in different newspapers and magazines. You can start checking there for possible home. If you can not find anything through this media, you can search through the internet or through agents or brokers. There are some who owns the vacation home and they speak for themselves without any agents.

If you are undecided on whom to go to, you can always rely on friends or relatives who had experiences with vacation homes. You can ask for referrals on which house to choose and who to talk to.

Other sites for listing are through visitors’ bureau websites which can be found in the internet.

When finalizing details, make sure that you have a copy of the agreement. Everything should be noted down and it should always be followed. It is important to note the dates and deadlines for payments as well as the special information regarding the house and its amenities.

Ask as many questions as you can from the agent. It is better to be prepared than know-it-all when in fact you haven’t discussed certain things. If the agent is hesitant to give answers to your questions, be wary. There might be some things which might not turn out well.

Here are some helpful tips that you should bear in mind!

1. Reserve as early as possible. If you have finalized your plans, reserve the vacation homes. During peak seasons, vacation homes are in demand and are easily booked.
2. Retain a personal copy for the agreement. Important data should be recorded.
3. Pay on time. Give special attentions to deadlines of payments, your reservation might be forfeited if you fail to comply.
4. Be aware of the cancellation procedure. Some do not allow cancellations so make sure that you decide well if you would like to avail the home.
5. Note on special instructions should be made. Do not wait for the last minute before moving.

Florida: Fun Florida, The Best Vacation on Earth For Your Money

By Paul Davis

Take my word for it, Florida is a fabulous place to vacation and get a lot of bang for your buck. I've traveled to over 50 countries and 6 continents of the world. I am very familiar with what is available for the vacationer throughout the earth.

Florida offers the most variety of things to do at affordable prices than anywhere I have seen. The sunshine state remains the number one favorite among the British and Canadians. Not to mention Florida is extremely popular among latinos across Central and South America.

Whether you like sunny beaches, world class attractions, fine dining or a luxurious place to just relax Florida is full of options. I was born in Orlando, a children's paradise, which is home to Walt Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, several water parks and resorts. I even dated Cinderella when working at Disney World my first summer out of high school. I have lifeguarded at Water Mania and Wetn'Wild, just two of our many water parks in Central Florida. I have surfed Cocoa Beach, New Smyrna Beach and Daytona Beach.

If you are looking for a quiet getaway, try the west coast where you can watch a romantic sunset on the beach. Clearwater, Sarasota and St. Petersburg are all favorites among retirees. The Emerald Coast around Panama City and Pensacola (even better the smaller beach towns) are delightfully charming.

Tampa is one of our fastest growing cities and home to the Devil Rays and Bucaneers if you care to take in a sporting event. Spring time in Florida is home to the boys of summer with baseball franchises across North America coming here to train before regular season. It's a fun way to spend the afternoon and see your favorite athletes all in one place.

If latin flavor is your thing, try Miami where you can move your feet to hot salsa rhythms and spicy merengue beats. A bit pretentious undoubtedly but always lively, Miami has a lot to offer.

If you like yachts and speed boats try visiting Fort Lauderdale, one of the world's largest ports. There are several cruises leaving Fort Lauderdale weekly for the Carribean which are sure to satisfy.

The Florida Keys, four hours south of Miami by car, have some lovely islands and places to visit if you just want to chill and soak up the sun.

The Florida Manatees can be seen at some of our natural springs. Air boat rides can also be found along some rivers, where you can also see some alligators and do some fishing.

These are just a few of countless things you can do to entertain yourself in the great state of Florida. By the end of the day however you'll just want to kick back and drink some fresh squeezed orange juice, have a slice of key lime pie and shoot the breeze with family and friends.

Need a tour guide, liaison, director of activities or someone to discuss and look at real estate in Florida?

Things to Do in Florida in the Summer

By Fraser Hannah

There are all sorts of things to do in Florida in the summer, making it a great time for a visit. The kids are out of school, the adults are longing for a break from the everyday routine, and you can factor in the many great Florida events that are going on throughout the season to enhance your vacation.

June - Florida Events to Start the Summer Season
Every year in June in Coconut Grove, Florida, the Goombay Festival delights people of all ages and is one of the more interesting things to do in Florida. Known as the largest black heritage festival in the United States, the Goombay Festival has been running strong since 1977. The festival includes displays of Bahamian history, authentic arts and crafts, plus music and Junkanoo dance. Over 100,000 people are expected to attend each day, making this a delightful stop for any family.

Another of the unusual Florida events for the whole family is the Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival, held in Fort Walton Beach. Pirates and pirate-related activities abound throughout this three-day festival, which includes a block party featuring performances by musical groups of various genres, as well as a torchlight parade and a treasure hunt that has participants scrambling to find two rare silver coins (one for adults, one for children). If you're hoping for pirate-related things to do in Florida, you shouldn't miss this.

For those looking for things to do in Florida that are more historical, for over 50 years, the Fiesta of Five Flags has been held in Pensacola to celebrate the city's founding as the first European settlement in the United States. This week of great Florida events includes treasure hunts, boat parades, and a sand sculpture contest. Don't forget to make time for the Grand Fiesta Parade, which includes pirates, clowns, and other colorful characters.

Still need more things to do in Florida in June? Other great Florida events include the Monticello Watermelon Festival in Jefferson County (a 50-year-old festival celebrating the juicy fruit with beauty pageants, dances, a parade, and more); Beethoven by the Beach in Fort Lauderdale (featuring activities celebrating the life of the great composer, including performances of his symphonies by various musical acts); and the Downtown Venice Craft Festival (a juried craft show featuring exhibits by over 100 artisans showing everything from jewelry to photography).

July - Things to Do in Florida on Independence Day and Beyond!
As the summer really gets going, there are even more fun Florida events during month of July. Of course, there are many celebrations for the 4th that you may want to attend, depending on where you and your family are staying. If you're looking for things to do in Florida near Jacksonville, you won't want to miss the "Freedom, Fanfare & Fireworks" event. Bring a picnic and enjoy the beautiful fireworks on the 4th of July! If you're in Clearwater, check out "Clearwater Celebrates America," a multi-day festival of music, food, and fun, leading up to the 4th. And of course, if you're in Orlando, you will probably want to go to Walt Disney World to enjoy the grand show that the park puts on for the nation's birthday - although bear in mind that a lot of other families may have the exact same idea!

For music lovers seeking things to do in Florida in July, check out the annual Lower Keys Underwater Music Festival. This is one of the more remarkable Florida events. It features musicians performing - you guessed it - underwater! You can also dive down to visit an undersea art gallery while exploring the coral reef that makes the area famous. If you're lucky, you might even see a mermaid singing backup.

Toward the end of the month, the Hemingway Days Festival in Key West is one of the best Florida events for fans of literature. Make sure you check out the lookalike contest, where men compete to look the most like Ernest. There are also fishing tournaments and a short fun run for visitors to watch or participate in.

August - Celebrate the End of the Summer with Great Florida Events
The month of August means summer is winding to a close and it's time to take one last big vacation before school starts up. For memorable things to do in Florida in August, visit Wausau, which is the "Possum Capital of the United States," to participate in the annual Possum Festival and Funday. It's hard to describe, but it's worth checking out if you are seeking unique Florida events to tell people about when you get home.

If you prefer things to do in Florida that are a bit more mainstream, August is Miami Spice Restaurant Month. Restaurants throughout the city offer specially priced three-course meals at lunch and dinner for all to enjoy. It's a great way to sample some of the fare that this bustling city has to offer for a great price.

In addition, the entire month is devoted to Boca Festival Days in Boca Raton. Throughout the month, enjoy music, fun, and food in over 40 different locations around the city. Other Florida events that are a part of this festival include a three-day trade fair and a juried art exhibit that you won't want to miss. If you are looking for things to do in Florida at any time during the month, make Boca a stop on your journey and you'll find something to do that will delight every member of your family.

Conclusion
This is just a small sampling of the many things to do in Florida during the summer months. Make sure you take the time to investigate the Florida events taking place in your specific destination before you leave for your journey. Why settle for the same-old-same-old when you can explore a new festival or party every night of the week?

Tarpon Fly Fishing in Florida

By Richard Chapo

Fly fishing for trout? Salmon? Bah! For a different experience, it is all about tarpon fly fishing in Florida.

There are a lot of different types of fishing experiences. There are also many ways of gauging the success of any fishing trip. To many anglers, the number of fish that you have in your live well, cooler, or stringer is the way you measure a successful trip. To others it is the enjoyment of the external surrounding environment and the immersion into nature that makes the experience successful. To others, it is the sport. It is the challenge of taking a large fish on light tackle. Fly fisherman understand the idea of challenge.

Tarpon fly fishing in Florida is a good example of the idea of sport. Many people have compared this form of fishing to hunting. The tarpon is a saltwater fish that comes to the shallow offshore flats and coastal rivers to feed. Many tarpon grow up to 8 feet long and some can weigh as much as 200 pounds. The top of their mouth, where the hook must be set, is covered by a bony plate that some have described as being a bit like concrete.

The tarpon is usually sought in the coastal waters of the Florida Keys in a small skiff. The fisherman stands in the front of the skiff and the guide positions it to intercept schools of tarpon that are moving in from deeper waters to feed. The fish are swimming fast, bearing down on the skiff in small schools of giant fish. The fisherman must make an expert cast to drop a fly in the path of the oncoming fish and hope one stops to strike it. Then the hook must be set in that bony upper mouth. In most cases, the fish will throw the hook rather quickly.

If the hook is set, the challenge has really just started. The tarpon is a feisty fish. It may be one of the hardest fighting fish pound for pound anywhere. It will make long wild runs and then suddenly pull with stubborn bull dog tenacity. And they will jump. The tarpon is known for their high arching jumps that can set the fisherman’s heart to racing wildly. In fact, it is common to ask the returning fisherman how many fish he “jumped” rather than how many he caught.

It is really not the catching that is important in tarpon fly fishing in Florida or along the coastal waters of the other Southern states in the tarpon’s range. It is the hunt that is the thing that draws the fishermen. The flesh of the tarpon is bony and not good eating and in many places the fish is protected and catch and release is the norm. It is the human being against the denizen of the sea that this is all about, not putting food on the table.

So You Want to Find a Vacation Home in Orlando Florida?

By Georgia Hess

So you are thinking about buying a vacation home in Orlando Florida? You will not find a more perfect great destination. There is just so much to see and do, and climate wise it is comfortable all year round. The most popular attractions include:

Walt Disney World: Who hasn't heard of Disneyworld? Well it is only the most popular vacation destination in the universe! It is made up of four gigantic theme parks that are almost the size of Boston. People mistake Disneyworld as a "kiddie" park but it really does offer something for all ages.

Season passes are surprisingly affordable if you consider all that you get with it. Disneyworld is so huge that it would take a very, very, long time to see everything. Disney is even more enjoyable during the off-season. You can't beat the short lines and cooler climate! The best part is the attractions run year round.

You could also consider owning a home that you travel to during the off-season, and then rent it out during the summer. The money you would make on this would pay for your home!

Universal Studios: Universal consists of two big themeparks. One of the parks is your basic "thrill park, featuring huge rollercoasters and spectacular special effects. The other park is based on the many movies that Universal has put out, some of which are incorporated into rides while others offer behind the scenes looks. There is also an adult nightlife section that even features dance clubs.

Endless Supply of Beaches: Orlando is just a skip away from Florida's many beautiful beaches. Even Tampa is a car ride away. The best part is that the climate allows you to enjoy the beaches almost year round.

Orlando Florida Nightlife: There are tons of adult themed places and activites in the Orlando area. Planet Hollywood and the Hard Rock Cafe, in addition to Universal and Orlando's offerings are just some of the many available places.

Orlando Florida has a bit of something for everyone, year round. I hope you will consider it!

Florida Vacation Rental Apartments

By Damian Sofsian

Privately-owned apartments are widely available for short term and long term vacation rentals all over Florida. There are several agencies that house large databases of vacation rental apartments in Florida. Such private holiday homes give a superior vacation experience when compared to a hotel.

Owners of vacation rental apartments register their property details with agencies. They also ensure that the details are supported by an availability calendar. The data on this calendar helps tourists decide on bookings for specific dates.

The options available are many; one bedroom with one bath, two bedrooms with one or two baths- and so on. Whatever the size, most of the apartments come with a deck or balcony where you can relax, with the sounds of nature forming a pleasant continuous backdrop.

Most of the apartments are located close to beaches giving residents easy access and fabulous views. Seemingly never-ending stretches of white sand, sparkling aqua blue water and cheerfully twittering seabirds are freebies that come with every apartment.

The usual practice for payment of rentals is that only US currency is accepted unless specifically agreed upon otherwise. The advertised rates for apartments always refer to double occupancy. Additional guests are charged on a per head basis and allowed up to maximum occupancy limits. During holidays, special rates and specifications regarding minimum number of nights are applicable. The general practice is that all Florida vacation rental apartments are let out for a minimum of three night's stay.

A one bedroom apartment is rented out at $90-$120 a day. Weekly rates work out to around $450 - $600 and monthly rents are in the range of $1800-$2100. Two bedroom apartments are rented out at $100- $140 a day, $500 - $ 750 a week and $2000 - $ 3000 a month. Luxury apartments of the same size have higher rentals and larger apartments with lesser amenities may even come with lesser rentals than these.

Great for people of all ages, shapes, and sizes Orlando has it all: great attractions, fabulous hotels and resorts, delicious dining, first class entertainment, and still a short drive from either coast.

South Florida is in a league of its own. Miami has bright lights, beautiful people, and a culture like no other. If you want to visit paradise we suggest you try the island lifestyle of The Keys.

Let's not forget Northeast Florida where you can take a glimpse into Florida's ancient history in St. Augustine or into its brilliant future at Kennedy Space Center, nor the Panhandle and its pristine white sand beaches, where relaxation is a prerequisite. It all comes down to what type of Florida vacation you want to experience.

From deciding on an ideal destination and how to get there to where to stay and what to do, I've compiled the information you'll need to plan an unforgettable trip — one step at a time.

So, what do I need to do first?

**Decide where and when to go. This is more important than you think and depends on your Florida vacation destination of choice. Consider things like weather, crowds, and more when deciding when and where to go.

**How to get to your Florida vacation spot and how to get around when you are there. Are you going to drive? Are you going to fly? Are you going to rent a vehicle, scooter, or walk everywhere? Knowing your area and travel time is muy importante.

**Where to stay on your Florida vacation. There are all sorts of options besides staying at a hotel with one room, no kitchen, or any of the great amenities other places offer at affordable prices. Villas, homes, houseboats, condos, and more offer an array of Florida vacation stays that will make your trip much more enjoyable. Every location is different and offers different stays. A hotel in one part of Florida will not be the same in another destination.

**What to Eat on your Florida vacation. There are so many wonderful restaurants that range from Seafood, American, Cuban, and a number of other cuisines that will be mouth watering. The good thing is you can visit Florida and have great food on any type of budget.

**What to do on your Florida vacation. What is there not to do? Unless you hate breathtaking beaches, all day fun parks, the beautiful blue ocean, fantastic views & sunsets, boating, water sports, attractions you won’t find elsewhere, or just plain relaxation, then Florida is the perfect location for anyone. Young or old there is something for everyone!

**Other things you will need to consider before going and while on your Florida vacation include, budget (you want to get the most for your vacation dollar), taking care of your stuff back home, being safe while on your Florida vacation, and learning tips and tricks along the way so you ensure a wonderful trip.

Books have been written about Florida. There are great websites devoted to the subject and go in much deeper depth regarding Florida travel.

We love Florida and know how great of a vacation destination it is. We hope you enjoy Florida as much as we do!

Joe Collinsworth founded Discount Florida Vacations. A great travel experience in itself we offer fun, sun, adventure, attractions, beautiful beaches, reviews, stories from other Florida vacation lovers. Come enjoy Florida with other travel lovers.

Vacation Homes in Florida - Enriching Your Vacation Experience

By Cassie Herts

Vacation homes in Orlando, Florida allow you to do something most people advise against: mix business with pleasure.

Florida is one of the top vacation and retirement spots in the country. Orlando, Florida is a particularly well-known destination. Known for its amusement parks and picturesque landscapes that look cut right out of a postcard, Orlando is an ideal place for tourists, pensioners, and just about anyone looking for a home.

In more recent years, Orlando has become home not just to Orlando Studios and Disney World but also to a booming real estate market. Vacation homes in Orlando, Florida can be rented and purchased for incredibly low prices. From north to south, real estate goldmines abound in the place. There are homes and town houses for sale, apartments for rent, and a number of lovely vacation homes in Orlando, Florida. Over the past few years, high demand for vacation homes in Orlando, Florida has made such a highly viable investment. After all, these vacation homes are not only inexpensive and ideal for future investment; they are also the closest one could get to the complete vacation experience. The homes are close to various vacation destinations. Moreover, they come fully furnished, with all appliances, such as stoves, washers, and dryers, already in place. So, if you can afford it, plunk down serious cash for a beautiful vacation home. You can be assured it's worth every penny you pay.

If, on the other hand, you cannot afford as serious a purchase as a house, then you need not break the bank. Opt for renting an Orlando vacation villa instead. Renting vacation villas is especially advisable for a family on vacation. First, it gives you a free hand in picking your proximity to vacation spots. Secondly, it allows you to enjoy maximum comfort and luxury. Thirdly, it helps you save. Who wouldn't want to enjoy better accommodations and get to save at the same time? Villas, condos, and vacation homes in Orlando, Florida can be rented for a fraction of the price of a regular hotel room. For example, given regular hotel rates, a week's stay for two could set you back more than $1,000. On the other hand, many Orlando vacation homes can house ten people for a week, with a price tag that is much, much lesser.

There are a plethora of choices and most of them are a stone's throw away from Disneyworld and other prominent tourist areas. Most vacation homes in Orlando, Florida come with private pools; some even boast of game rooms and Jacuzzis. Additionally, you need not find an agent to make your booking. You may book online on sites such as http://www.Holiday4You.com. For an additional charge, you may also avail of such amenities as gas barbecue rental, highchair and crib for your toddlers, a wheelchair, and even an escort. The booking process itself is simple. Most sites online offer a catalogue detailing the unit, its specific location, and its rental fee. All you have to do is browse the catalogue and fill out a secure online form.

So, in your next vacation, why not combine business with pleasure? Invest in vacation homes in Orlando, Florida or, if not that, then book one online today.

8 Places a Family Can Go to During a Florida Vacation

By Nathalie Fiset

Your family is the best company to have during a Florida vacation because this is one of the most family oriented states in America. If New York is for the urbane, and California is for the fun-loving, Florida is definitely the family state to go to if you wish to enjoy quality time with your family.

Universal Studios - A family can't call their family Florida vacation complete if they don't take the time to visit its world famous Universal Studios. Besides having the opportunity to acquaint yourself with your favorite movies and Hollywood actors and actresses, there are also scores of wonderful rides, activities, and presentations offered to make your experience absolutely unforgettable. If and when you visit Universal Studios, make sure that you don't miss the terribly fun Jaws encounter and the space-oriented E.T. Adventure. Special private tours can also be arranged.

Sea World - Paris may be the world's definition for romance, but Orlando, Florida definitely symbolizes the essence of theme parks. Make sure that the itinerary list of your family Florida vacation also includes a trip to Sea World, one of the city's pioneering theme parks and which has been operating for more than three decades already. Going to Sea World is one of the closest ways you can get to living to the sea.

Walt Disney - If your family is having a family Florida vacation this year, one of your reasons no doubt of heading there is to have a magical Disney experience. Orlando's Disneyworld can be divided into four sections: EPCOT - where your family can transform your Florida vacation into a science adventure; Disney-MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom, and finally Magic Kingdom, if you wish your family - or more importantly the children - to have an unforgettable Florida vacation. This is the only place where their favorite Disney characters can come alive!

Dry Tortugas National Park - If your kids are clamoring for something more realistic than what Sea World has to offer, then don't allow your family Florida vacation to end without a trip to Dry Tortugas National Park. This tourist attraction is the country's one and only at-sea national park. Guests can enjoy diving, snorkeling, or simply catching sight of some of the most beautiful and unique marine creatures.

Busch Gardens - Have your children ever wondered what it would be like if their lives and their pets' were reversed? If so, then you can give them exactly what they're asking for at Busch Gardens. Guests have the option of viewing animals as they roam their natural habitat by train, cable car, or monorail. Besides this once in a lifetime opportunity, you can also satiate your kids' thirst for thrills and excitement by getting them in heart-thumping river rapids. And for a special treat for the adults, you and your partner can also take a sip of the Anheuser Busch brew that's the main product of this site.

Mallory Square - Life in Key West doesn't have to be too quiet. You can take your family to Mallory Square where they can shop for lovely and rare items at Carribean Cargo and Shell Warehouse. After an exhausting but fulfilling shopping expedition, you and your family can choose to dine at any of Mallory Square's restaurants while being wooed and entertained by street musical performers.

Salvador Dali Museum - A family Florida vacation doesn't have to be about fun only. It can also be educational and with cultural value even if you so wish. For a trip of this ilk, consider taking your family to the Salvador Dali Museum. Give your kids a different outlook to art as they learn to appreciate the wonders of surrealism through the artist's works. Be sure to take part of the museum's tours so that you and your kids can gain insight to the man behind all these wonders.

Daytona, USA - If you have a group of rowdy boys in your family, you definitely have to take them to this side of Florida. Just about everything connected to NASCAR can be found here, and your kids are sure to race to your side in gratitude after this.

Those are not the only things that you can do on your famikly Florida vacation, but they're definitely some of the most important so don't miss any of them!

Discount Florida Vacation Rentals

By Damian Sofsian

Discount Florida vacation rentals are a good way to save on rentals and one can use the savings to splurge on leisure activities that are the core of any vacation. There are several agencies that advertise discount Florida vacation rentals. Some agencies even offer discount vacation rental deals that range up to 60%.

One can look up owner direct vacation rentals to check the prices being charged for different types of vacation rentals. This is a good source for prices as most owner direct rentals are priced very competitively.

While looking around for Florida discount vacation rentals, tourists should read the whole offer carefully. The use of different terms like "late availability" prices and "deep-discount prices" might lead a person to assume that the prices mentioned are the lowest. However, some amount of market research is advisable.

Genuine discount vacation rentals can be availed during off season. The other slots when discounts are offered depends on pure luck as during season vacation rentals are usually booked months in advance. When there is a sizeable gap between two bookings, these days are then offered at discount prices. This is done to optimize the utilization of the property.

While opting for discount Florida rentals do take into account the amenities offered at such rentals. Lack of amenities could be a reason for low prices. In such a scenario you will have to spend outside for certain amenities. Add that estimated cost to your rental and then analyze whether the discount rental is really worth it. At times you can get several amenities under one roof and the cost could come to the same. The convenience would be an added benefit.

A good way of sizing up a discount rental is recommendations by known person. This way you will get to know what others pay. This information will be indicative of whether the discount Florida rental that you are considering is really at discount prices or not.

Florida Vacation Rentals provides detailed information on Florida Vacation Rentals, Florida Vacation Home Rentals, Florida Keys Vacation Rentals, Florida Beach Vacation Rentals and more. Florida Vacation Rentals is affiliated with Florida Vacation Homes.

Now Is The Best Time to Take a Big Florida Vacation

By Nathalie Fiset

Florida's tourism has suffered a great decrease as a vacation choice in the past years mainly because of climate and political misfortunes. The fact of the matter is that a vacation in Orlando with the whole family remains a sure way of having a fun-packed vacation that will please everyone. Actually, you can turn the situation in your advantage by planning a big Florida vacation now. Therefore, you will benefit from shorter waiting lines and still get to see the world famous family entertainment that will make your Florida vacation a winning deal for all.

Allow me to share the top ten tips that I find most useful when planning a big Florida
Vacation.

1) Plan in advance. Just by looking at the brochures, you are building expectations among your family members and they are already having fun. Making a small book with pictures (of their favorite characters) taken from traveling brochures will only take you a couple of minutes yet it will give your children (and yourself) the opportunity to dream about their future vacation.

2) Upon your arrival, if you rent a car, place a distinctive ribbon on your antenna. This little trick will prove of great value during your big Florida vacation when you are looking for your car in the huge parking lot at the end of your day in a theme park. I also recommend that you mark down the parking row where your car is. After, a couple of days of visiting, you will appreciate not having to look around or try to remember if you are parked on Mickey7 or Donald 13!

3) Once you have unpacked and taken a refreshing leak in your private pool, pack your whole family in the car and get to the nearest shopping center. The first stop will be at the nearest Wall Mart or souvenir shops. There, you will find for at least half the price, the same items sold in the parks and you will have saved big bucks. This way, your children will either not bother you for those expensive items sold in the park or understand when you answer they already have something. Next, you want to stop at a grocery store and stock up on healthy foods and bottled water. This way again, you will not spend your week eating unhealthy and very expensive food in the parks.

4) In your Florida vacation planning, do not get carried away and add too much to your schedule. Orlando offers so much family vacation fun that it is impossible to see everything in one vacation. You will just have to come back and take another big Florida vacation! I highly recommend that you plan one day of rest in the middle of your vacation, doing almost nothing or very little that day- a dinner show, miniature golf, shopping or just a quiet day at the beach. This way, your whole family will be ready and anxious to continue their visits of the theme parks and enjoy the rest of their big Florida vacation.

5) Upon visiting parks, use their Fastpass services or equivalent. You will save tons of precious time this way.

6) When visiting theme parks, start at the back of the park, the lines are usually much shorter . There is almost no wait in the lines for very small children rides after 4:00 p.m. because most parents have ran out of the park with their tired and crying children. You then just have to get there and enjoy the rides. I did the ride "Small World" four times in a row upon visiting Disney World with my daughter one time because there was absolutely no waiting. Pure bliss!

7) Make your restaurant and shows bookings in advance so you don't have to wait upon your arrival. I highly recommend you book one of the "Dine with the Characters" at Disney World. This way, your children get to see and touch their favorite characters and you get the greatest souvenir pictures.

8) Resist the temptation to stop at all those booths promising you cheap or free tickets. These are all Timesharing sales tactics and you might end-up wasting a whole day of being pressure-sold. Your time is way more valuable than this.

9) Enjoy yourself and allow yourself to be a child again. Take time to really enjoy your big Florida vacation and realize that this vacation is also for your pleasure. Everything does not have to be perfect this time, just fun!

10) Strongly consider renting a Florida house near the parks instead of crowding yourself and your loved ones into a hotel room. Many Florida vacation houses offer the comfort of a full-kitchen, a backyard pool and a room for every child for the price of a hotel room.

For a comfortable four bedrooms, full kitchen and private screened backyard pool, go to http://www.bigfloridavacation.com now. Reservations are made upon availability. Hurry - great dates are going fast!

How to Choose a Florida Vacation Rental

By John Macrae and Julie Macrae

I've owned a villa near Disney for many years and having rented it form time to time, we came to realize from chatting with our guests that one of their biggest challenges is how to choose the vacation rental villa that is right for them in the first place! This article reflects their experience and hopefully sharing it with you will make your choice easier...

Is a vacation rental villa right for me? Whether you are seeking a magical Disney World Vacation or an active family holiday, a Florida vacation rental villa is one of the most flexible options available to you. Many visitors decide on a hotel or motel room. This can appear to be the cheapest option but has several disadvantages. As I'm sure you know if you wanted a suit of rooms in a hotel that offered all the facilities of a vacation rental villas, you would spend many hundreds of dollars per night! Limited space, limited bathrooms, neighbor noise etc - we've all been there! The convenience and space of a vacation rental villa not only make for a much more enjoyable vacation for everyone but when things go wrong these were an important factor for one of our guests when 3 of her 4 children became ill shortly after arriving. She was so pleased to have chosen a luxury vacation rental villa with the space and convenience of 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms as it meant that the whole family was not wakened when one member had to get up frequently during the night!

Convenience: Probably the biggest advantage of your vacation rental - you can come and go as you please and do what you like, when you like. You might feel like a day by the pool on your own when the rest of the family go out, and that's exactly what you can have - moreover, its you by the pool and no one else to share it with - bliss!

Location: This is the another important one factor in choosing your vacation rental! Its important to choose a luxury vacation rental villa that is close to the attractions that you will be visiting frequently. First time visitors have little idea of the scale of the Orlando area and the whole thing can be more than a little daunting. Its made even more confusing by the vast choice of vacation rental villas available and the lack of clear details on their location. We know that this has resulted in some families traveling long distances to get from their chosen location - not ideal. That's why we have clear links to maps from our vacation rental villa details pages. We want you to be able to plan your vacation and spend as little time as possible in the car!

Quality: We spent some time recently viewing and inspecting Florida vacation rental villas. The pictures on their web sites presented the villa very well in most cases but it soon became clear that they had been taken a very long time ago. Many of the villas were very tired, showed heavy wear and little attention to maintaining a comfortable environment for their guests. They were certainly far form the luxury vacation rental villas they were being marketed as! These problems showed up much more in the properties where the owners had clearly taken little interest and were managed by property management agencies (Large or small, and who, in turn rent them to the large holiday companies). This is one reason why we update the pictures of our properties each year (several times a year in fact!). This gives our guests the confidence to know that what they see is what they will get. Whilst booking direct with the owner does not guarantee quality, it does give you the opportunity to ask if the photos on the site truly represent the condition of a particular vacation rental villa today.

Check in/out This is often overlooked as one of these things that has to be done but be careful. Check in and out is not usually at the villa! Its normally at the management company office where you have to wait in line with everyone else that booked through the same company. This means that you have to drive to and find the office from the airport. We know of offices that are over 15 miles from the vacation rental. Check the driving distances and times from airport to office and from office to your villa. (Be aware that if the office is in Kissimmee, it can be very busy and take a long time especially in the early evening). Note: We have an electronic access system so our guests can drive direct to their chosen luxury villa and let themselves in. The benefit of this system is clear - and you have no keys to lose or hand back.

Locality: What we mean here is the area surrounding the villa. Careful examination of the photos of some villas will show where they have been doctored to hide undesirable features. One of the favorites is to block out the lower areas of screened pool enclosures to hide the fact that there are many others very close to the villa. We do not enhance our photos. Check carefully or ask if the pool area is overlooked.

Games rooms: Some vacation rental villas advertise a games room with all kinds of entertainments. If this is something that you want to have in your villa, be sure to inquire whether it is properly air conditioned. The reason for this is that some owners have simply locked the garage door and installed a carpet and a pool table or foosball table and called it a games room. Its fine in December but impossible to use comfortably for much of the year.
Equipment: Check whether the equipment you need is 'included' or 'available' and know the difference between these terms. Included usually means that the item is included in the rent for the villa. Its important to know that 'available' usually means that the item is available but you will be expected to pay an extra charge for it. For example, a gas barbecue will cost you between $35 and $50 per week to hire (+ sales tax). A cot, baby seat or stroller can be the same each! That can make a significant unexpected dent in your pocket - check unless the information is explicit!

Summary: We hope that this guide helps you make your choice of vacation rental villa much easier. We think that vacation rental villas are exceptional value for money but there are some traps which we have highlighted. Whilst we realize that checking all these details might be a pain, we hope that it will help you have a much better vacation!
